Smug Marrieds: Dinner Conversation

As we're sitting at the table last night, eating dinner, I feel a tickle around the back of my neck. I reach up to scratch my neck and knock a small black bug onto my shoulder. Startled, I slap at the bug and manage to knock it down once again. Right...down...my...bra.

Screeching, I stand up and start digging around inside my bra, searching for the bug. When I finally find it, I fling it to the floor.

Blair, meanwhile, has been sitting calmly across the table from me, chewing his food. Once I sit back down he smirks then says, "Lord, woman. If you want some attention you don't need to just whip it out like that. All you have to do is ask."

I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

Cheers,

Dena

2011 Myrtle Beach Marathon: The Recap

Sole Sisters the day before the raceAnother marathon on the books.

Here's the short version: Hot. Flat. New PR!

Here's the long version

This was my first marathon without Blair. Instead, I traveled with my Sole Sisters--six "hot fast women" (painted on our car)---to Myrtle Beach. I was worried about not having Blair waiting for me at the finish line. I'm typically in intense pain for the first 40 minutes after a race and Blair all but carries me around. Surprisingly, I finished in good form. I kept moving after I crossed the finish line and while I was stiff, I was walking around after the race with little difficulty.

A Man and His Cat

Better late than never. I thought I'd jump on the (moving fast, almost gone) animation bandwagon with my take on how cat lovers are perceived. The script was wa-ay too easy to write. I pretty much AM the guy in this video. I've been married to the love of my life for almost 17 years but don't carry around his photo. You want to see what my cats look like though? Pull up a chair and I'll start the i-Phone slideshow.

Myrtle Beach Marathon - I Can Hear the Clock Ticking

Today is Monday. This Saturday, I will join close to 7,000 runners at the start of the Myrtle Beach Marathon. The marathon and half-marathon both begin at 6:30 am. I was not happy about freezing my butt off at the early start, but the forecast is for lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s, so now I'm quite happy. I've been training in snow and ice. A too hot day will destroy me. Let's get in there and get this thing run before the sun really comes up.
