Dieting Secrets Revealed

I've once again been writing down what I eat in the hopes that seeing the food amounts on paper will somehow shame me into eating less or that the Universe will see how very honest I'm being and reward me in the form of carbs no longer sticking to my hips.

Uh-huh.

I have picked up one interesting tidbit. I apparently get very, very hungry between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Like, VERY hungry. I do well with food until then. In fact, I don't really even think about it. Come 3:30 though, my food journal tends to look something like "bread, bread, MORE BREAD!" So I eat for two hours, am not hungry for dinner at 7 but eat anyway (just to be social) and end the day feeling defeated.

I eat a healthy-sized lunch, so it's not like I'm depriving myself. I think it's more habit. Also, the stress adds up at the end of the day and if I'm feeling like I haven't accomplished enough during the day, I handle it by eating.

I'd write more about this, but it's 4:40 pm. Which means there is some bread out there with my name on it.

Cheers,

Dena

Keeping A Food Journal

6:40 AM - 1 bowl oatmeal with slivered almonds. 1 6oz. can V8 juice. Decaf coffee.

Oh yes, this is my life. Writing down every bit of food and drink that passes through my lips. I've been assured by books and been-there-done-it individuals that the best way to lose weight is to track your food. And the best way to track your food is to write it down. So I've got my little kitchen journal where I duly record what I eat.

3:40 PM - 1/2 pbj sandwich, 1 green apple, 1 leftover piece of veggie pizza

I'm only on Day 5 and it's been an eye-opening experience. People - I eat a LOT of food. Wow. So much for the "I must have a slow metabolism" excuse. Um, no. Piggy just can't stop eating.
