Blueberry Needs A Forever Home

Can you help Blueberry? She is an almost 3-year-old, 30 lb. hound mix that has been at the Rockingham County Humane Society Shelter for over two years. Two years. Think about that.

My animal protection group takes Blueberry to the monthly Petco adoption fair but so far, no luck. Blueberry used to be rather animated but now, more often then not, she sits calmly in her cage, observing the people come and go. It's almost like she's resigned herself to this life.

It breaks my heart.

There are many of us who love this sweet girl and we're willing to sponsor her and pay her adoption fee if we can find her a solid, loving home. We know she LOVES car rides (she jumps in the truck of her own accord to ride to Petco) and is affectionate. She's a little aggressive toward food, natural from being at a shelter for so long. She hasn't been around cats, so we don't know how she'd react. All in all, a sweet dog.

Blueberry is in Eden, NC but there are dog transports that run across the country and I know many members of our group would move mountains to see Blueberry have the chance to experience life in a real home. If you know of anyone, anywhere, who may be interested, please have them contact the Eden Humane Society

Thanks!

Blake & Tulip Need A Home -- Together!

BlakeI worked an adoption fair at Petco last Saturday for the Animal Protection Society of Rockingham County and FELL IN LOVE with two of the dogs there. Retriever mixes, Tulip and Blake are brother and sister and so freaking cute they make me want to lose my mind. They are very devoted to one another as well. Obviously, we'd like to get them out of the shelter and into homes but it would be ideal if they could stay together. TulipGoing into Petco, Tulip was nervous. The sliding doors and smell of other dogs was freaking her out and she kept backing away from the doors. Then she saw Blake trot on inside, happy as can be, and suddenly she was fine. She followed him inside, no problem. It was like she said to herself, "Well, if he's going to be there it must be okay."

TulipI think both dogs are around 11 months. Everyone remarked that for retrievers, they are very laid back. Blake especially is a big ol' lounge dog. He just sprawled on the floor at Petco and I could just picture him hanging out on the floor beside a couch, just happy to be near people. Blake

Please--these are wonderful dogs. Pass this link around in case anyone you know may know someone who would love to share their life with some super-sweet--and beautiful--dogs.

Cheers,

Dena

Photos from Petco Adoption Fair

Once a month, Blair and I volunteer a Saturday afternoon to work the Petco adoption fair on behalf of the Animal Protection Society of Rockingham County. Dogs are pulled from the local Humane Society and we parade them around the Petco on Wendover in Greensboro for 3 hours, hoping the dogs will find their forever homes. We've had success with two dogs, so far. My goal in life is to get Hilton adopted. He's not the cutest dog out there, but he is just a cuddle monster who I know would make someone the best pet.

Here are a few photos from our day:

Hilton is the blob spread out on his back, begging for a belly rub.
